Meet Our Board

Mr. Scott Lewit, Chairman

Scott Lewit is President of Structural Composites, Inc. of West Melbourne, Florida. Structural Composites and its sister company Compsys provide a range of innovative composite structures for the marine and transportation industries as well as a variety of other industrial uses, including in the energy field. Scott holds B.S. and M.S. degrees in engineering from the Florida Institute of Technology. Scott was recently honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award for excellence in entrepreneurship and business leadership in Florida’s technology sector by the Florida TechXpo, a statewide showcase of Florida’s advanced technology businesses.

Dr. Roger Manley, Vice Chair

Dr. Roger Manley is a Professor Emeritus of Management and Organizational Psychology in the College of Business at Florida Institute of Technology. He is the former Dean of the College of Business and Head of the Management Department at Florida Tech. Prior to joining Florida Tech, he served as Chair and tenured Professor of Management at the Air Force Institute of Technology College of Engineering in Dayton, Ohio. He has served and continues to serve on a number of corporate and institutional boards of directors, and is a member of the executive committee of the Center for Ethics and Leadership at Florida Tech. Professor Manley earned a B.S. in Systems Engineering from the U.S. Naval Academy, and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

Mr. Brian Said, Director

Brian R. Said brings expertise and leadership in Business Development/Intellectual Property Development/Product Development and all phases of marketing-engineering-manufacturing management, strategic and market planning, analyses and design, operational logistics, value analysis, and scientific research and development. Recently retired as Chief Technologist/Fellow Emeritus from Lockheed Martin Corporation with experience spanning from Aerospace to Undersea Systems. Mr. Said’s prior career history includes bio-medical engineering, analytical instruments, turbomachinery, guidance systems, and aeronautical design and flight testing, in addition to planning and leadership of expeditions/explorations for science, sport, and humanitarian rescue/evacuation- through funding sources including NSF, NAS, NGS, US Army, ONR, U. of Idaho, U. of Alaska.  His interests in mountaineering, ocean navigation and sub-arctic operations (including under ice), have encompassed adventure programming and outdoor education for groups and individuals seeking technical instruction, lecture seminars and back-country training outings.

Ms. Maggy Szymanski, Director

Maggy Szymanski is Champion of Aerospace Engineering and Advanced Manufacturing at Structural Composites, Inc. of West Melbourne, Florida. Maggy is finishing up her B.S. in Aerospace Engineering at Florida Institute of Technology and will go on to get her M.S. degree in Flight Test Engineering as well as obtain her pilot’s license. Prior to joining the Structural Composites team, Maggy worked at Larsen Motorsports of Melbourne, Florida building jet dragsters and creating STEM educational outreach videos. Maggy’s early career experiences involve research and design, manufacturing processes, materials research and engineering, marketing, and leadership. Her interests in the field of engineering range from jet engine designs to composite boat building, and everything in between!
