Mr. Scott Lewit, Chairman
Scott Lewit is President of Structural Composites, Inc. of West Melbourne, Florida. Structural Composites and its sister company Compsys provide a range of innovative composite structures for the marine and transportation industries as well as a variety of other industrial uses, including in the energy field. Scott holds B.S. and M.S. degrees in engineering from the Florida Institute of Technology. Scott was recently honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award for excellence in entrepreneurship and business leadership in Florida’s technology sector by the Florida TechXpo, a statewide showcase of Florida’s advanced technology businesses.
Dr. Roger Manley, Vice Chair
Dr. Roger Manley is a Professor Emeritus of Management and Organizational Psychology in the College of Business at Florida Institute of Technology. He is the former Dean of the College of Business and Head of the Management Department at Florida Tech. Prior to joining Florida Tech, he served as Chair and tenured Professor of Management at the Air Force Institute of Technology College of Engineering in Dayton, Ohio. He has served and continues to serve on a number of corporate and institutional boards of directors, and is a member of the executive committee of the Center for Ethics and Leadership at Florida Tech. Professor Manley earned a B.S. in Systems Engineering from the U.S. Naval Academy, and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
Mr. Mike Durante, Treasurer
Mike Durante is an Audit Partner with Berman Hopkins, where his major practice areas include closely held corporations, employee benefit plans, government contractors and not-for-profit organizations. He has experience with due diligence for purchasing or selling a business and analysis of buy/sell agreements. Mike also works with clients through employee benefit plan and not-for-profit audits including significant experience auditing alternative investments with complex valuation considerations. He lives with his wife and four children in Melbourne, Florida.
Mr. Stephen Thomas, Secretary
Stephen Thomas is an attorney and partner with the law firm Lowndes, Drosdick, Kantor & Reed in Melbourne, Florida, and serves as managing partner of the firm’s Space Coast practice. Previously, Stephen was a partner with the law firm of Hayworth, Chaney, & Thomas P.A. in Melbourne, Florida, where he practiced from 2003-2015. Prior to his law career, he worked more than twenty years for Harris Corporation in Melbourne, Florida as an engineer and manager. Mr. Thomas practices civil litigation and intellectual property law including patent and trademark application, copyright law, infringement litigation, business law, and other related matters.
Ms. Colleen Castille, Director
Colleen Castille is currently the CEO of Earth Steps, LLC, a Tallahassee-based non-profit working on energy efficiency retrofits and energy performance contracting projects. Colleen has a wide range of experience, as former chief cabinet aide and then Secretary of both the Florida Department of Community Affairs and the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) under former Governor Jeb Bush. As Secretary of DEP, she worked on passage of the Florida Energy Act of 2006, the first statewide energy policy since the late 1970’s. Since her service in state government, Colleen has also represented businesses with myriad issues before the executive and legislative branches of Florida government. Her government career spans more than 25 years. Ms. Castille holds a Bachelor of Arts in International Affairs from Florida State University and is a licensed Florida Real Estate salesperson.
Dr. David Steele-Figueredo, Director
Dr. Steele-Figueredo has had a broadly diversified career track in R&D, project engineering, finance, strategic planning and IT before moving to senior executive management as Vice President Finance and operational positions with Chevron. He played a variety of strategic roles with Chevron, including senior strategic planner and financial analyst on the Chevron-Gulf merger team, head of corporate IT, leader of an exploration and production technology team, and executive in charge of overseeing the rapid growth of Chevron’s worldwide data, voice, microwave and satellite communication networks. Responsible for activities in over 30 countries, he managed complex engineering projects with capital outlays of $950 million over 3 years in countries with difficult social, economic and political environments; and chaired the operating committee of an international consortium.
Following his business career, Dr. Steele-Figueredo has pursued a very distinguished career in business education and academic administration. Dr. Steele-Figueredo was inaugurated as the 14th President of Woodbury University in Burbank, California in November 2015. Prior to his service with Woodbury, he served as Dean of the College of Business and Lucas Graduate School of Business at San Jose State University from 2008-2015. Previous to that role, he was Dean of the Silberman College of Business at Fairleigh Dickinson University, and he also served as Professor and Dean of the College of Business at Florida Institute of Technology.
